Living Water Baptist Church in Owego, NY provides a Sunday School Bible study group for every age from birth to senior citizen.
The purpose of our Sunday School is:
- To study God's Word
- To minister to others
- To reach out and evangelize
- And to share in fellowship
We believe that these goals can be more personally and effectively accomplished in small group settings such as Sunday School, rather than in a larger congregation.
Bible Study
Bible study is central to the growth of every Christian. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is an inerrant, infallible guide for living. Participation in a small-group Bible study is the best means of studying the Scriptures in a systematic manner guided by trained, knowledgeable teachers. The small group can also foster spiritual growth, accountability and support for one another.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)
Ministry
Our Sunday School is the basis of much of our church ministry. Through the small-groups, a Biblical focus guides us to meet the individual physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of those in our church and community. Some of our ministry activities include prayer, visitation, gifts/offerings, and encouragement.

Outreach & Evangelism
The primary objective of our Sunday School is outlined by Jesus in the Great Commission:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 2:19-20 (NIV)
Our Sunday School organization allows us the opportunity to put Biblical teachings into practice as we reach out to the community through prayer, visitation, and witnessing to others about Jesus Christ. Through this outreach, prospects and guests become a part of our Bible study group, and ultimately part of the family of God.
Fellowship
As prospects visit our church or express interest in our church, they are assigned to a Sunday School Bible study group. A function of Sunday School is to acquaint prospects and guests with our church and our Lord Jesus Christ. Fellowship is a way to form new friendships and create an atmosphere for bonding with one another. Some activities are planned specifically to encourage fellowship. Such activities might include meals, outings, socials, and other events or just spending time getting to know one another in the Sunday School setting. We are a loving and friendly church and openly invite people of all ages and backgrounds to attend.

Sunday School Bible study meets each Sunday at 9:45 AM.
