Our Heart for Missions
We are particularly thankful that God has given Living Water Baptist Church in Owego, NY a very mission minded heart.
Our giving record exemplifies this. 10% of our general offering goes through the Cooperative Program to support the work of the Southern Baptist Convention both at home and abroad. Another 8% goes to our Central New York Baptist Association.
In addition, 4 times a year we give money and prayer to the special offerings promoted through the SBC. These are:
- The Annie Armstrong Easter offering in April for North American missions.
- In June, the Carol & John Simmons offering to support special activities of our local Association.
- In September, the Paul & Ava James offering for work of the Baptist Convention of NY.
- During the first week of December, the Lottie Moon week of prayer and giving for International Missions.

In addition God has led our church to start two new Southern Baptist Churches in the Upstate New York area. These include:
Emory Chapel - Barton, NY
Crossroads Community Church - Earlville, NY
Waters Edge Church - Apalachin, NY
It is such a joy to hear about what the Lord is doing in these churches which we have helped to plant. These churches are reaching their communities for Christ.
Our Mission Trips
In addition to sending our money to support the work of the Lord in other ministries, the Living Water Baptist Church has had some opportunities to send some of our members on Mission trips. Among these are:

SPLASH Youth group helped another sister church (Forest Hills Baptist) in Florence, AL. The group also conducted the Wednesday evening service there that week.

SPLASH Youth group conducted weekend revival meeting at First Southern Baptist Church of Sidney. Puppets and skits were used to illustrate the Word of God.

Local Mission Work
As with any local church, the major focus of our ministry is locally. Among the works which exemplify our mission to our community are:
- A ministry to children on Wednesday nights offers a hot meal, and missions program with the goal of winning the children of Owego to Christ.
- In the summer, Vacation Bible School is an opportunity for outreach. The summer of 2000 there were 66 children and adults actively involved in an "Ocean Odyssey — Diving into the Depths of God's Faithfulness".
- The Carroll Street Ministry in downtown Binghamton offers many possibilities for serving Christ. The Ministry offers literacy classes, food pantry, children's programs and a soup kitchen, along with the less glamorous tasks of keeping the Center clean and painted and attractive. The Living Water Baptist Church actively works together with such ministries. Volunteers are needed!
- We give Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to the needy in our community to the extent that funds permit.
- We participate in holiday community activities such as the “Living Nativity”.
Our goal is to bathe all of these and any mission activities that we do in prevailing prayer. If you have a heart for serving Christ through serving others, we invite you to join us in our mission to reach our world for Christ.
